About the Job
Express Employment Professionals is looking for an experienced Quality Technician to join a manufacturing team in Detroit. This person will inspect parts, identify quality issues, take measurements, document results, and work with the production team to correct problems.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, dependable, and comfortable working in a manufacturing environment.
What You'll Do
- Inspect parts and materials for quality and defects.
- Inspect stamped and assembled parts for appearance and quality.
- Perform surface and Class-A inspections.
- Check welds and identify weld quality issues.
- Use measuring tools such as calipers, gauges, and other inspection equipment.
- Read and understand blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
- Record inspection results and maintain accurate quality records.
- Identify quality problems and help determine the root cause.
- Work with production to correct quality issues.
- Monitor production processes to make sure quality standards are being followed.
- Inspect incoming materials.
- Assist with corrective actions and quality improvements.
- Help with internal and external audits.
- Maintain and calibrate inspection equipment.
- Communicate quality issues and trends to management.
- Follow all company safety and quality procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- At least 2 years of Quality Control, Quality Assurance, or inspection experience.
- Manufacturing experience preferred.
- Experience inspecting stamped or assembled parts.
- Experience with Class-A and surface checks.
- Experience with weld inspection/testing.
- Experience with root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Experience with audits is a plus.
- Ability to use calipers, gauges, and other measuring equipment.
- Ability to read technical drawings and specifications.
- Basic computer skills; Microsoft Office experience preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must be willing to work different shifts and overtime as needed.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, reach, and use hands regularly.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment.
- Must be able to occasionally lift up to50 lbs.
- Must have good vision, including the ability to see detail, color, and depth.
