Full-Time | Monday to Friday | 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM | On-Site

$90,000 – $110,000 per year

Express Employment Professionals is recruiting on behalf of a local organization for an experienced Controller to lead its accounting operations and support informed business decision-making.

This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys being hands-on, working with data, and using technology to improve financial reporting and processes. The ideal candidate will have strong accounting fundamentals combined with advanced Excel skills and the ability to turn complex financial data into clear, meaningful information.

 

What You’ll Do

  • Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, payroll, reconciliations, and financial reporting
  • Maintain accurate financial records, documentation, and internal controls
  • Ensure compliance with government, banking, and other regulatory requirements and deadlines
  • Prepare financial reports, variance analysis, and project profitability reporting to support operational and management decisions
  • Extract and analyze data from QuickBooks, including exporting data into CSV files for further analysis
  • Build and maintain Excel templates that clean, transform, reconcile, and organize financial data into meaningful reports
  • Use Power Query, PivotTables, VLOOKUP/HLOOKUP, nested IF statements, graphs, and other advanced Excel functions to analyze and present financial information
  • Develop new Excel reporting tools and templates as business needs evolve
  • Connect, reconcile, and validate information across multiple software platforms
  • Identify data discrepancies and troubleshoot information flow between systems
  • Look for opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting, and workflow efficiency
  • Provide financial insight and analysis to help support operational decision-making

 

What We’re Looking For

  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including supervisory and Controller-level responsibilities
  • Strong knowledge of full-cycle accounting, including AR, AP, payroll, reconciliations, and financial reporting
  • Advanced Excel skills are essential, including experience with:
    • Power Query
    • PivotTables
    • VLOOKUP/HLOOKUP or equivalent lookup functions
    • Nested IF statements
    • Data cleaning and transformation
    • Financial modeling and analysis
    • Creating reporting templates and dashboards
  • Proven ability to take raw or complex data and turn it into accurate, easy-to-analyze financial reports
  • Strong experience reconciling and validating data across multiple systems
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks
  • Experience with Laserfiche and PowerApps is an asset
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organization and attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with multiple stakeholders
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines accurately
