Full-Time
$75,000 - $95,000 DOE
Own the numbers. Provide financial insight. Help modernize a growing business.
We’re representing the region’s largest fresh potato supplier, an established agricultural organization that works closely with local growers and operates across multiple facilities. They’re looking for an experienced Controller who wants more than a traditional accounting seat—you’ll have the autonomy to own the accounting function, work directly with leadership, and improve the processes and systems that support the business.
This is a hands-on, highly autonomous Controller role with visibility across three operating facilities and direct interaction with plant leadership, growers, banks, auditors, vendors, and outside partners.
What You’ll Do
- Own the full-cycle accounting function, including AP, AR, general ledger activity, journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close.
- Prepare timely monthly financial statements, analysis, and reporting for the General Manager and monthly board meetings.
- Partner with leadership across three facilities to improve expense management, approvals, budgeting, and financial visibility.
- Oversee specialized grower accounting and settlement processes, including grower transactions, charges, advances, storage, and final settlement activity.
- Maintain visibility into cash flow and working capital while supporting budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
- Oversee payroll-related accounting, journal entries, reconciliations, and compliance in partnership with a third-party payroll provider.
- Manage monthly and quarterly tax filings and serve as the primary accounting contact for the outside audit firm.
- Oversee accounting controls for potato bag and packaging inventory and support regular inventory verification.
- Work directly with banks, vendors, insurance partners, auditors, and other external partners.
- Support core HR administration, including employee onboarding, benefits coordination, personnel records, and coordination with outside HR and benefits partners.
- Identify opportunities to modernize accounting processes, including ACH payments, electronic invoice receipt, and reducing manual paperwork and data entry.
- Strengthen internal controls, documentation, consistency, and financial visibility across accounting and operational cost structures.
- Maintain a roll-up-your-sleeves approach, taking on administrative, operational, and ad-hoc financial responsibilities as needed.
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with the ability to independently manage full-cycle accounting.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial statement preparation, reconciliations, and month-end close.
- Strong Excel and accounting systems skills.
- Ability to learn new software platforms quickly and analyze financial data effectively.
- Comfortable working independently in a highly hands-on environment.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to explain financial information clearly to operational leadership.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Famous Software or another specialized agribusiness/produce accounting ERP.
- Experience in agriculture, fresh produce, cooperative accounting, or grower settlement structures.
- Experience implementing automated accounting workflows such as ACH or electronic invoicing.
- CPA designation is a plus.
Why This Opportunity?
This isn't a Controller role where you'll simply close the books and move on.
You'll have the opportunity to own the accounting function, provide financial insight to leadership, modernize processes, and make a tangible impact on an organization with a strong connection to the region’s agricultural community.
You'll also receive a comprehensive benefits package including:
- Medical, dental, and vision insurance
- 401(k)
- Long-term disability
- Paid time off
- Salaried, full-time position
If you're a Controller or senior accounting professional who enjoys autonomy, problem-solving, operational partnership, and improving the way a business operates, we'd like to hear from you.
Apply today to take ownership of a financial function that supports growers, operations, and the future growth of a regional agricultural leader.
