PUBLIC WORKS MAINTENANCE WORKER

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM
Pay: $23.00–$25.00/hour DOE
Higher starting pay may be available for candidates with previous public works or pipelaying experience.

 

A local city is seeking a Maintenance Worker to join its Public Works team. This is a hands-on position performing a variety of maintenance duties involving streets, water, sewer, parks, and city facilities.

Responsibilities include:

• Assist with water and sewer main installation and repairs
• Perform street, park, and building maintenance
• Operate trucks, equipment, and hand tools
• Mow, landscape, clean, and maintain public areas
• Dig and backfill ditches and load/unload materials
• Assist with water and wastewater operations
• Respond to occasional emergency call-outs and rotating weekend rounds
• Provide friendly and respectful customer service to the public

Requirements:

• High school diploma/GED
• Valid Oregon driver’s license
• Ability to perform heavy manual labor 
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
• Public works or pipelaying experience is a plus

Certifications: ODOT flagging, confined space, first aid, and CPR certifications are required within the first year if not already obtained.
