CNC Laser Operator – Lafayette, IN

Pay: $19.00–$21.00/hour, depending on experience
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM

 

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced CNC Laser Operator to join a metal fabrication/manufacturing team. This position is responsible for operating CNC laser cutting equipment while supporting production through machine operation, material handling, and other fabrication processes such as bending, punching, and sawing.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC laser cutting equipment and other production machinery.
• Load programs and adjust machine parameters based on material type and thickness.
• Select and set up appropriate lenses for laser cutting operations.
• Monitor machine performance and make necessary adjustments to maintain quality.
• Work with sheet metal and various material types.
• Assist with bending, punching, sawing, and other metal fabrication processes as needed.
• Work with automated material/storage systems.
• Perform basic tooling setup and tool maintenance.
• Follow production specifications and quality requirements.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Work efficiently in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
• Follow applicable OSHA and workplace safety standards.
• Perform additional production duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of CNC laser cutting experience preferred.
• Experience with Trumpf, Amada, TruDisk/TruFlow, or similar CNC laser equipment preferred.
• Previous sheet metal or metal fabrication experience.
• Knowledge of tooling and basic tool maintenance.
• Strong measurement skills.
• Ability to work with fractions and decimal conversions.
• Ability to identify different materials, including aluminum, steel, stainless steel, copper, and brass.
• Basic AutoCAD knowledge is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow specifications.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
