Production Lead

Position Summary

We are seeking a motivated and hands-on Production Lead to support daily manufacturing operations and help drive production efficiency, quality, food safety, and team performance. This is a working lead position responsible for assisting the Production Supervisor in coordinating production activities, directing workflow, and providing leadership to production team members.

The Production Lead serves as a subject matter expert on production equipment and processes, helping troubleshoot operational challenges, train employees, and ensure production goals are achieved while maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality. This role may provide daily directions for up to 25 production employees.

Seeking 1st & 2nd shift: 7-day operating facility, must have open availability to work any day of the week and holidays as required.

1st: 6am-2pm

2nd: 2pm-10pm

Pay: $20/hr.,

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Production Supervisor in monitoring line performance and making adjustments to maximize production yields and meet production schedules.
  • Create production schedules and coordinate workflow for assigned production line(s).
  • Provide day-to-day leadership, guidance, and direction to production team members.
  • Monitor production activities to ensure compliance with safety, food safety, quality, and operating procedures.
  • Train and onboard new employees, ensuring they understand equipment operation, safety requirements, and production expectations.
  • Serve as a resource for troubleshooting equipment and operational issues.
  • Promote and maintain compliance with GMPs, HACCP, FDA, USDA, BRC, OSHA, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Investigate, document, and communicate compliance concerns and recommend corrective actions.
  • Support company policies, procedures, and workplace standards while fostering a safe, respectful, and productive environment.
  • Lead and participate in team meetings and daily production communications.
  • Partner with supervisors and Human Resources on employee development, performance management, coaching, and policy compliance.
  • Complete performance evaluations for assigned employees.
  • Support quality assurance initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Assist in achieving departmental goals related to safety, productivity, quality, and employee engagement.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Experience in manufacturing, packaging, production, distribution, or related industrial environment.
  • Working knowledge of:
    • Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)
    • HACCP
    • FDA regulations
    • USDA requirements
    • OSHA standards
  • Demonstrated ability to train, mentor, and develop employees.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.
  • Ability to learn and utilize RedZone, Oracle, and other company software platforms.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Mechanical aptitude with troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Exceptional organizational and multitasking skills with the ability to prioritize competing responsibilities.
  • Commitment to completing required leadership training within one year of accepting the position.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous leadership, supervisory, or team lead experience.
  • Experience coaching employees, managing performance, and directing work activities.
  • Strong leadership, relationship-building, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience working in a food manufacturing environment.

Physical & Working Conditions

  • Ability to stand, bend, lift, and move throughout the shift.
  • Regular lifting of up to 35 pounds.
  • Exposure to manufacturing conditions, including varying temperatures, machinery, and noise levels.
  • Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and non-traditional schedules as business needs require.
