A growing wood door manufacturer in Clinton Township is seeking a hands-on individual with strong mechanical and mathematical aptitude to support their engineering and production teams. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity with standard daytime hours (7:00 AM – 3:30 PM or 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM).
Overview
In this role, you’ll create detailed Bills of Materials (B.O.M.s) for custom wood doors in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Each day, you’ll analyze multiple door designs, calculate dimensions, and translate those details into accurate component lists using Excel or Google Sheets.
Key Responsibilities
- Create Bills of Materials (B.O.M.s) for various door sizes and designs
- Interpret drawings to determine materials, dimensions, and components
- Apply math skills to calculate width, height, and component fit
- Collaborate with engineering and production to ensure documentation accuracy
- Use Excel or Google Sheets to build and maintain B.O.M.s
- Learn routing and process documentation over time
Qualifications
- Strong math and mechanical aptitude (drafting or carpentry background preferred)
- Proficient with Excel or Google Sheets
- Ability to visualize how parts fit together and translate into precise data
- Detail-oriented and comfortable in a smaller, hands-on manufacturing environment
- High school diploma required; technical coursework a plus
