Express Employment Professionals is looking for a Surgical Coordinator for a busy, patient-focused podiatry practice dedicated to providing exceptional foot and ankle care. We are seeking an organized, detail-oriented Surgical Coordinator with podiatry experience to join our team. The ideal candidate is compassionate, highly organized, and able to manage multiple priorities while ensuring an outstanding patient experience.

Position Summary

The Surgical Coordinator is responsible for managing all aspects of the surgical scheduling process, from obtaining insurance authorizations to coordinating with hospitals, surgery centers, physicians, and patients. This role requires excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail, and prior experience working in a podiatry practice.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and schedule surgical procedures with physicians, hospitals, and ambulatory surgery centers.
  • Obtain insurance authorizations and verify patient benefits.
  • Prepare and submit surgical documentation and required paperwork.
  • Educate patients regarding pre-operative and post-operative instructions.
  • Schedule pre-operative appointments, medical clearances, and follow-up visits.
  • Communicate with patients regarding surgery dates, preparation, and required documentation.
  • Coordinate with vendors for surgical implants and equipment when necessary.
  • Ensure all medical records, consent forms, imaging, and laboratory results are complete before surgery.
  • Maintain accurate documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
  • Collaborate with physicians and clinical staff to ensure seamless surgical scheduling and patient care.
  • Respond to patient questions and concerns in a professional and timely manner.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of surgical scheduling experience in a podiatry practice (required).
  • Must Speak English and Spanish
  • Knowledge of podiatric surgical procedures and terminology.
  • Experience obtaining insurance authorizations and verifying benefits.
  • Familiarity with EMR systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; medical office certification is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with multiple surgeons.
  • Knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and medical terminology.
