Express Employment Professionals is recruiting for an Accountant in Springfield, IL for a well-established and growing accounting firm serving clients throughout Central Illinois. With more than a decade of continued growth, this firm is expanding its team to meet increasing client demand.

This is a great opportunity for an Accountant, Staff Accountant, or accounting professional who wants to build a long-term career in public accounting. The Accountant will work alongside experienced accounting professionals and management while supporting a variety of accounting, tax, payroll, and financial reporting functions.

Accountant Responsibilities:

• Assist with monthly accounting and bookkeeping processes

• Prepare account reconciliations and review financial records for accuracy

• Prepare and file sales tax returns and reports

• Assist with payroll processing and provide backup payroll support as needed

• Assist with individual and business tax preparation

• Support tax accounting and other public accounting activities

• Maintain accurate and organized financial records and documentation

• Assist with financial reporting and accounting-related projects

• Communicate with clients and management regarding accounting and financial information

• Ensure accounting work is completed accurately and on schedule

• Support senior accounting staff with various accounting and tax functions

Accountant Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred

• Previous accounting experience preferred

• Experience with account reconciliations and financial records

• Strong numerical and analytical skills

• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

• Strong organizational and time management skills

• Professional communication and interpersonal skills

• Client-focused mindset and ability to work effectively with a team

• Ability to learn new accounting and tax software and systems
