We are seeking an experienced Junior Accountant to join an established organization based in Port Coquitlam. This is a Full-Time, 3-month contract opportunity with an immediate start, providing short-term accounting and year-end audit support in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
The successful candidate will work closely with the accounting team, supporting key financial processes while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of full-cycle bookkeeping and accounting experience, preferably within a multi-entity or inventory-based environment
- Proficiency with QuickBooks
- Experience performing bank reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and general ledger reconciliations
- Strong understanding of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, inventory accounting, and month-end processes
- Experience supporting year-end audits and preparing accounting schedules and supporting documentation
- Experience working with multi-currency transactions and reporting
- MXP experience is an asset but not required
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify variances and trends
- Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting tight deadlines
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across departments
- References and a background screening will be conducted for candidates moving forward in the hiring process
Role Responsibilities:
- Perform weekly bank reconciliations for multiple accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness
- Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and accounting adjustments
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and balance sheet items, including intercompany transactions and reconciliations
- Verify, allocate, post, and reconcile Inventory, Accounts Payable, and Accounts Receivable transactions
- Prepare accurate accounting reports and supporting schedules, including multi-currency reporting, within established timelines
- Assist with the preparation of financial statements and internal management reports
- Analyze financial information and identify variances or trends for review by senior accounting staff
- Support year-end assurance audits and assist with tax filings across multiple jurisdictions
- Assist in documenting accounting processes, policies, and procedures
- Contribute to process improvements and efficiencies within the accounting function
- Ensure accounting activities comply with ASPE requirements and internal controls
- Support timely month-end and year-end close activities while working in a deadline-driven environment
- Collaborate with operations and other departments to ensure transactions are properly reviewed, coded, and posted
- Provide inventory count support as required
- Report directly to the Senior Accounting Staff and work closely with finance and operational teams
