Purchasing Manager

Express Employment Professionals is recruiting for a Purchasing Manager on behalf of a growing wholesale distributor serving some of the boating industry's most recognized brands.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced purchasing professional who wants to make a significant impact. Our client is seeking a strategic leader who can strengthen supplier relationships, improve forecasting and inventory planning, optimize purchasing processes, and help build a scalable supply chain operation for continued growth.

What You'll Do

• Source, evaluate, and negotiate pricing, contracts, and terms with domestic and international suppliers
• Develop forecasting models using historical sales and inventory data
• Manage vendor relationships and monitor supplier performance related to quality, delivery, and service
• Oversee international purchasing, freight coordination, customs documentation, and import logistics
• Issue and manage purchase orders to ensure timely product availability
• Monitor inventory levels and partner with sales and operations teams to maintain optimal stock levels
• Analyze purchasing data and identify cost-saving opportunities
• Resolve supplier issues involving shortages, quality concerns, and delivery delays
• Maintain accurate purchasing records and vendor information within the ERP system
• Prepare forecasts, purchasing reports, and budget recommendations
• Ensure compliance with company purchasing policies and ethical sourcing practices
• Mentor purchasing staff and support departmental growth and process improvements

Qualifications

• 5+ years of purchasing, procurement, or supply chain experience
• 2+ years of management or supervisory experience preferred
• Strong negotiation and vendor management skills
• Experience working within ERP systems (NetSuite experience is a plus)
• Advanced Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office skills
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered

• Marine, manufacturing, industrial, or distribution industries
• Inventory planning and demand forecasting
• International sourcing, freight, customs, and tariff management
• Supplier performance management and continuous improvement initiatives
