Day Labor is one of the positions we recruit for year-round. We're always looking to connect with dependable, hardworking individuals who enjoy staying active and working outdoors or on a variety of job sites.
Our Day Labor opportunities support local businesses, contractors, landscaping companies, property management companies, and construction crews throughout Thurston County. Many assignments are short-term, but some can lead to long-term employment for dependable associates.
Common Responsibilities
Responsibilities vary by assignment but may include:
- Lawn maintenance, including mowing, edging, trimming, and general landscape upkeep
- Site cleanup before, during, and after construction or landscaping projects
- Loading, unloading, and moving materials
- Using basic hand tools safely and effectively
- Sweeping, shoveling, raking, and general labor tasks
- Assisting skilled tradespeople with projects as directed
- Setting up and cleaning up work areas
- Following safety procedures and supervisor instructions
Qualifications
We're typically looking for candidates who:
- Are dependable and have a strong work ethic
- Enjoy working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions
- Can lift up to 50 pounds throughout the workday
- Are comfortable standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and performing physical work
- Can follow directions and work well as part of a team
- Have reliable transportation to job sites
- Previous landscaping, construction, warehouse, or general labor experience is helpful but not always required
Position Details
Pay: Starting at $20.00 per hour, could be up to $25 per hour depending on the assignment.
Schedule: Assignments may be day to day, or up to a week at a time. Most positions will be day shift and some starting as early as 7AM.
Location: All positions are within Thurston County, with most opportunities located in Olympia, Lacey, Tumwater, Yelm, Rochester, and surrounding communities.
