Express Employment Professionals is hiring for a local nonprofit social services agency!
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Finance Specialist to join the agency’s finance team. This position will support day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll-related accounting, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial recordkeeping.
The ideal candidate has accounting experience, strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to handle confidential financial information with accuracy and integrity.

What You'll Do
Accounts Payable
- Prepare and distribute weekly accounts payable.
- Enter accounts payable transactions accurately.
- Ensure proper general ledger account coding.
- Prepare vouchers and journal entries.
- Enter accrual vouchers and maintain accurate account balances.
- Maintain vendor files and ensure required W-9 documentation is on file before payments are issued.
- Assist with preparation of annual 1099 forms.
Accounts Receivable
- Assist with daily cash receipts.
- Create and distribute invoices as needed.
- Perform weekly energy program batch draws.
- Enter journal vouchers accurately and timely.
- Assist with credit card entries.
Payroll & General Accounting
- Assist with monthly reconciliation of payroll liability accounts.
- Assist with processing payroll liabilities on a biweekly basis.
- Assist with bank statement reconciliations.
- Enter budgets and maintain accurate financial records.
- Analyze and research accounting discrepancies or problems.
- Maintain organized and accurate accounting files.
- Assist with preparation of payroll-related forms, including W-2s.
Administrative & Team Support
- Provide general office and administrative support as needed.
- Answer phones and respond to messages, emails, and other correspondence.
- Maintain confidentiality of financial, employee, applicant, and program participant information.
- Assist with meetings, trainings, and special events as needed.
- Work collaboratively with the Finance Director and other departments.
- Follow Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and organizational policies and procedures.
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience in accounting, bookkeeping, finance, or a related field.
- Knowledge of accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
- Understanding of general ledger accounting and journal entries.
- Experience with reconciliations and financial recordkeeping.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Strong data-entry and computer skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 and the ability to quickly learn accounting software and other applications.
- Ability to research and resolve accounting discrepancies.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with a team.
- Professional and respectful communication skills, particularly when working with individuals in potentially stressful situations.
Qualifications & Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Additional education or coursework in accounting, finance, business, or a related field is preferred.
- Relevant accounting or bookkeeping experience preferred.
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality and comply with organizational policies.
- Ability to commute to work and other locations as needed.
- Must be able to work accurately in a deadline-driven environment.
