Job Summary:
An Industrial Painter is responsible for preparing, coating, and finishing metal, concrete, or other industrial surfaces using paints, primers, sealants, and protective coatings. The role involves surface preparation, operation of spray-painting equipment, quality inspections, and adherence to safety regulations to protect equipment, structures, and machinery from corrosion and environmental damage.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, grinding, blasting, and masking areas as needed.
  • Mix and apply paints, primers, epoxies, urethanes, and specialty coatings according to manufacturer specifications.
  • Operate airless, conventional, and HVLP spray equipment.
  • Inspect surfaces before and after painting to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Apply protective coatings to industrial equipment, structural steel, tanks, pipelines, and machinery.
  • Read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and coating specifications.
  • Maintain painting tools, equipment, and work areas.
  • Follow safety procedures regarding hazardous materials, ventilation, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Measure coating thickness and perform quality control checks.
  • Report equipment malfunctions and project progress to supervisors.
