CNC Machinist

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced CNC Machinist. This position requires a highly skilled professional who can work with minimal supervision to perform complex machining operations in a job shop environment. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience setting up and operating CNC mills and lathes, interpreting blueprints, programming and proving out CNC programs, and producing precision parts to exact specifications.

This role offers the opportunity to work on a variety of custom machining projects while maintaining the highest standards of quality, accuracy, and craftsmanship.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC mills, lathes, and other production machinery.
  • Perform complex machining operations involving close tolerances and specialized requirements.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, sketches, and written specifications.
  • Program, edit, and prove out CNC programs using G-Code as needed.
  • Select and evaluate tooling, machining processes, and materials for optimal production results.
  • Calculate and apply proper feed rates, cutting speeds, and depths of cut.
  • Utilize precision measuring instruments and machinist hand tools to verify quality and accuracy.
  • Understand and apply knowledge of material properties during machining operations.
  • Fit and assemble machined components when required.
  • Maintain a strong focus on safety, quality, and efficiency throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Assist and support other machine operators as needed.

Qualifications

  • Previous CNC machining experience in a job shop environment.
  • Setup experience with CNC mills and lathes.
  • Experience with Doosan, Mori Seiki, and Haas controls preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of G-Code programming.
  • Ability to independently perform machine setups and program prove-outs.
  • Excellent mathematical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Thorough understanding of machining practices, tooling, and material characteristics.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Frequent use of hands and arms to handle tools, materials, and equipment.
  • Regular reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and bending.
  • Ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment.
