Express Employment Professionals is recruiting a Dispatcher / Logistics Analyst for an established national essential-services organization in Northern Wisconsin.

 

This is a hands-on transportation dispatch position for someone who enjoys solving real-time problems, coordinating drivers and routes, serving customers and managing several communication channels at once.

 

Despite the Logistics Analyst title, this is not a quiet, long-range supply chain planning position. You will be directly inside the daily operation, helping approximately 34 drivers complete their routes safely, efficiently and accurately.

What You Will Do

You will partner with another Dispatcher and the Operations Manager to coordinate drivers, routes, vehicles and service commitments throughout the day.

 

Your responsibilities will include:

• Monitoring the daily progress of approximately 34 drivers
• Coordinating drivers, trucks, routes and service capacity
• Adjusting same-day routes as conditions and customer needs change
• Helping plan the following day’s routes and assignments
• Responding quickly when vehicles break down or routes fall behind
• Resolving missed pickups, blocked service locations and other service exceptions
• Communicating continuously with drivers through phone and two-way systems
• Contacting customers with updates and resolving service concerns professionally
• Determining whether service can be completed later that day or rescheduled
• Anticipating when a driver may not finish and coordinating support before it becomes an emergency
• Reviewing route sequencing, capacity and efficiency
• Identifying patterns that may be creating repeated delays or missed service
• Monitoring safety concerns and escalating driver-performance issues appropriately
• Conducting end-of-day driver check-in and service reviews
• Verifying that all routes are closed accurately and on time
• Reviewing route, customer, asset and operational data
• Helping maximize route capacity, service reliability and productivity
• Updating internal systems so drivers, customer service and operations have accurate information

Experience and Skills

• Customer-facing experience is required
• Two years of dispatch or similar logistics, transportation or operations experience is preferred
• Experience coordinating drivers, routes, field-service employees or other mobile resources is highly valuable
• Strong analytical, prioritization and problem-solving skills
• Strong written and verbal communication
• Ability to perform time-sensitive work accurately
• Experience with Microsoft Office, email and Teams
• Comfort learning proprietary dispatch and routing systems
• AS/400 experience is helpful but not required
• Industry-specific experience is not required
• No specific college degree is required

Strong customer service, staffing or call center coordinators may qualify if they have successfully managed rapidly changing priorities across several communication channels.

Schedule and Overtime

This is a fully on-site, Monday-Friday position located in Sarona, Wisconsin, approximately 20 miles north of Rice Lake. It is not hybrid or remote.

 

The target start time is approximately 9:00 a.m., although some flexibility toward a 10:00 a.m. start may be considered.

 

This is the closing Dispatcher position. Most days may conclude around 5:30-6:00 p.m., particularly outside the busiest season. Late routes, breakdowns or winter-weather complications can occasionally require coverage until approximately 7:00-7:30 p.m.

 

The position is salaried but non-exempt, meaning additional qualifying hours are paid as overtime. The previous employee averaged approximately five to eight overtime hours weekly.

 

Candidates should want the additional earning opportunity and also understand that the exact amount of overtime will vary.

Work Environment

This is primarily a climate-controlled office position involving frequent computer, telephone and two-way communication work.

 

The office includes:

• Casual dress expectations
• An adjustable sit/stand workstation
• A shared office with the other Dispatcher
• A window overlooking the driver check-in area
• Direct daily interaction with drivers
• Support from an Operations Manager and experienced operating team

The physical requirements are typical of an office position. No commercial driving, unusual lifting or DOT physical was identified.

 

The pace, however, is anything but ordinary.

 

Expect frequent interruptions, rapidly changing priorities, customer-service deadlines and operational problems that must be resolved while drivers are still on the road.

The Honest Part

This position will not be a good match for someone looking to slow down.

 

It will also frustrate someone who needs every day to follow a detailed plan or who expects to leave at exactly the same time regardless of what is happening in the operation.

 

Some days will run beautifully. Other days will bring breakdowns, delayed routes, missed service, frustrated customers and several problems at once.

 

The job is primarily about real-time dispatch and execution—not studying the supply chain from a distance.

 

But you will not be handling it alone.

 

You will work alongside another Dispatcher during the busiest overlap period and collaborate with an experienced Operations Manager. You will be trusted to make decisions, encouraged to ask questions and supported as you learn a large regional operation.

 

Mistakes can be corrected. Problems can be solved. What matters is that you communicate, learn and keep moving.
