Dunnage Cleaning Technician

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dependable and safety-focused Dunnage Cleaning Technician to support operations inside the Caterpillar manufacturing facility. This position plays an important role in maintaining clean, production-ready dunnage, racks, and material containers used throughout the manufacturing process.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Operate a forklift to transport empty dunnage racks, bins, pallets, and other material handling containers from production areas to the designated cleaning station.

• Remove oil, grease, dirt, metal shavings, and other debris from dunnage and racks using a high-pressure power washer.

• Inspect dunnage for cleanliness and report any damaged or unsafe containers.

• Transport cleaned dunnage to the staging area for redistribution back into production.

• Maintain an organized and clean work area, including the wash station.

• Follow all Caterpillar and company safety policies and procedures.

• Perform routine forklift safety inspections before operating equipment.

• Work efficiently to ensure production has a continuous supply of clean dunnage.

• Assist with additional warehouse or material handling duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Previous forklift experience required (certification preferred but not required).

• Ability to safely operate a sit-down forklift in a manufacturing environment.

• Comfortable working around water, oil, grease, and industrial cleaning equipment.

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety.

• Reliable attendance and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Training & Schedule:

• Initial training will be conducted on 3rd shift.

• Upon successful completion of training, employees will transition to a regular 2nd shift schedule.

Work Environment:

• Industrial manufacturing facility.

• Regular exposure to water, cleaning chemicals, oil, grease, and varying temperatures.

• Frequent standing, walking, bending, and forklift operation throughout the shift.

• Personal protective equipment (PPE) required and provided as applicable.
