Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize classrooms, offices, restrooms, hallways, cafeterias, locker rooms, common areas, and other assigned spaces.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, scrub, strip, wax, and polish floors as needed.
• Empty trash and recycling containers and properly dispose of waste.
• Clean windows, doors, walls, furniture, fixtures, and other surfaces.
• Refill soap, paper products, and other custodial supplies.
• Clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces using approved products and procedures.
• Monitor the condition of the building and report safety concerns, damage, needed repairs, or suspicious activity.
• Perform minor maintenance tasks, such as replacing light bulbs, tightening fixtures, and making basic repairs when qualified to do so.
• Set up and break down tables, chairs, equipment, and other materials for school activities, athletic events, meetings, and special programs.
• Assist with cleaning and restoring areas following events, spills, accidents, or emergencies.
• Help maintain sidewalks, entrances, parking areas, and exterior grounds, including removing debris and addressing weather-related hazards when necessary.
• Safely operate custodial equipment and properly use, label, and store cleaning chemicals.
• Maintain custodial closets, equipment, and supply areas in a clean and organized condition.
• Follow established procedures for locking and securing assigned areas of the building.
• Work cooperatively with school administrators, teachers, employees, students, visitors, and other custodial team members.
• Maintain appropriate professional boundaries with students and protect confidential information encountered while working in the school.
• Follow all school safety, security, emergency-response, and infection-control procedures.
• Complete required training and maintain accurate cleaning, supply, inspection, or maintenance records.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
