A pipe layer installs, connects, and aligns underground pipe systems like sanitary sewers, storm drains, and water mains on heavy civil projects.. 
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Read and interpret project blueprints, grade specifications, and drawings.
  • Set up and utilize pipe lasers or transit levels to verify slopes and alignment.
  • Work with an underground crew to lay and connect various pipe materials (such as RCP, PVC, or corrugated pipe).
  • Align pipeline sections and securely seal pipe joints.
  • Coordinate with equipment operators or safely perform light trenching and grading to prep trench bases.
  • Follow all company and jobsite safety guidelines. 
General Requirements
  • Minimum of 1 year of hands-on experience working as a pipe layer in a heavy construction setting.
  • Strong understanding of laying pipe to proper grade and alignment.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various South Louisiana weather extremes and perform physically demanding tasks.
