A CCTV Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing closed-circuit television (CCTV) systems to ensure effective surveillance and security of facilities, properties, and client sites. The technician ensures all security equipment functions efficiently and complies with safety and security standards.

Key Responsibilities Installation and Configuration

  • Install, configure, and calibrate CCTV cameras, monitors, recording devices, cabling, network switches, and related software.
  • Set up and test surveillance systems to ensure optimal performance and coverage.
  • Integrate CCTV systems with other security devices, including alarm and access control systems.

Maintenance and Repairs

  • Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on CCTV equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair faults in cameras, DVRs/NVRs, networking equipment, fiber optic systems, and associated hardware.
  • Replace defective components and ensure system reliability.

Troubleshooting

  • Identify technical issues affecting system performance.
  • Test equipment and connections to determine root causes of faults.
  • Resolve hardware, software, and network-related problems in a timely manner.

Site Assessment

  • Conduct site surveys to determine optimal camera placement and system design.
  • Evaluate building structures and pathways for cable installation.
  • Recommend CCTV solutions that meet client security requirements and budget considerations.
