Pest Control Manager

Reports To: Senior Sanitation Manager
Position Summary
The Pest Control Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and continuously improving the organization's pest management program to ensure compliance with all applicable food safety regulations and industry standards, including GMP, HACCP, BRC, and current legislation.
This role oversees all pest control activities, manages pest control documentation and risk assessments, supports food safety initiatives across the facility, and provides technical expertise to minimize contamination risks while maintaining a safe manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Pest Control Program Management
- Develop, implement, and maintain the company's Pest Control Program and Pest Control Plan.
- Ensure all pest control activities comply with applicable legislation, food safety standards, and internal policies.
- Manage all pest control documentation, records, reports, and compliance requirements.
- Conduct regular inspections of manufacturing facilities and exterior grounds to identify pest activity and potential risks.
- Perform risk assessments and develop corrective and preventive action plans.
- Analyze pest control trends and recommend continuous improvement initiatives.
Food Safety & Compliance
- Support GMP, HACCP, BRC, and food safety programs through effective pest management practices.
- Lead floor-level initiatives to reduce contamination risks and maintain a high standard of food safety.
- Provide technical expertise during audits and regulatory inspections.
- Communicate findings, risks, and recommendations to management.
Wildlife & Pest Control Operations
- Inspect buildings and surrounding areas to identify wildlife activity.
- Safely relocate wildlife where appropriate.
- Install barriers and preventative measures to minimize wildlife entry into facilities.
- Perform bird trapping, spiking, and nest removal in accordance with Ministry of Environment and SPCA guidelines.
- Recommend and implement the most appropriate pest elimination methods, including:
- Pesticide applications
- Mechanical traps
- Exclusion methods
- Blockages
- Other integrated pest management techniques
Safety & Equipment
- Follow all health and safety procedures when handling pesticides, fumigants, and spraying equipment.
- Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Maintain inventory of pest control equipment, tools, materials, and supplies.
- Manage daily service schedules and routes to ensure timely completion of work.
Other Responsibilities
- Support sanitation and food safety initiatives as required.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Environmental Science, Biology, or a related discipline is preferred.
Experience
- Minimum 4 years of progressive experience in pest control, food manufacturing, sanitation, or a related environment.
- Experience working within food manufacturing is considered a strong asset.
- Experience supporting GMP, HACCP, BRC, or other food safety programs.
Licenses & Certifications
- Structural Exterminator License (Required)

- Strong knowledge of Integrated Pest Management (IPM) principles.
- Thorough understanding of GMP, HACAP, BRC, and food safety regulations.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and documentation skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication abilities.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office applications.
Working Conditions
- Manufacturing and food production environment.
- Exposure to hot and cold work areas.
- Physical ability to lift up to 20 kg.
- Required to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Exposure to hazards associated with manufacturing and pest control chemicals.
- Occasional flexibility in workdays and work hours to support operational requirements.
- Weekend work and shift flexibility are essential.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $65,000–$70,000 annually
