Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Machinist to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for setting up and operating machine tools to manufacture, repair, and modify precision components, tooling, fixtures, and production equipment. The ideal candidate brings strong manual machining experience, the ability to work independently from blueprints and specifications, and a commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work.
Key Responsibilities
• Set up and operate manual mills, lathes, surface grinders, drill presses, saws, and related machine shop equipment.
• Manufacture, repair, and modify precision parts, tooling components, fixtures, gauges, and production equipment.
• Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, engineering drawings, and machining specifications.
• Determine appropriate machining methods, cutting tools, speeds, feeds, and work-holding techniques.
• Perform accurate measurements using micrometers, calipers, indicators, height gauges, and other precision measuring instruments.
• Inspect completed work to verify dimensional accuracy, tolerances, surface finish, and conformance to specifications.
• Troubleshoot machining issues and make necessary adjustments to maintain part quality and productivity.
• Support the repair and modification of dies, roll-forming tooling, machinery, and other production components.
• Perform routine inspections and basic preventive maintenance on machine shop equipment.
• Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, production, and quality personnel to resolve tooling and equipment issues.
• Maintain accurate records of completed work, material usage, and equipment maintenance.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
Required Qualifications
• 3+ years of hands-on experience as a Machinist in a manufacturing or machine shop environment.
• Proven experience setting up and operating manual mills, lathes, surface grinders, and related equipment.
• Proficient in reading blueprints, engineering drawings, and machining specifications.
• Strong knowledge of machining processes, cutting tools, materials, speeds, feeds, and tolerances.
• Proficient in the use of micrometers, calipers, indicators, gauges, and other precision measuring equipment.
• Ability to hold close tolerances and consistently produce accurate, high-quality work.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
• Experience with CNC equipment, EDM, or CAD/CAM software is preferred.
• High attention to detail and a strong commitment to quality and safety.
Working Conditions
• Work performed in a machine shop and manufacturing environment.
• Regular exposure to machinery, metal chips, cutting fluids, noise, and manufacturing conditions.
• Requires lifting up to 50 lbs, standing for long periods, and wearing proper PPE.
• May include occasional overtime or weekend work based on production and maintenance needs.
