OB SUMMARY

This position is with a client of Express Employment Professionals – Timonium, MD, seeking an experienced Machine Operator with hands-on skill running waterjet cutting systems, manual and automatic die cutting equipment, lamination machines, and thermoforming/heat press (heat compress) equipment. The Machine Operator is responsible for carrying out Production department requirements, including material preparation and machine operation, and will also work with saws, skiving equipment, stripping, and size reduction equipment (densifier, granulator, shredders, etc.).

The Machine Operator reports directly to the department lead operator or shift supervisor and collaborates with production teams on completing work in process and required documentation. The incumbent will also assist with any other related tasks as assigned and will be cross-trained in all departments.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

• Complete assigned machine operation tasks as presented on the daily work schedule
• Set up and operate waterjet cutting equipment to precisely cut parts and materials to specification
• Operate manual and automatic die cutting machines, including die setup, adjustment, and changeover
• Run lamination machines to bond and finish materials to production specifications
• Operate thermoforming and heat press (heat compress) equipment to form and finish product per work order specifications
• Complete documentation and tallies as required on Shop Work Orders; clearly identify all materials at the work center or moved to storage
• Perform preventative maintenance tasks as assigned
• Conduct a daily review of machine operation to ensure equipment is in safe and reliable working condition; report any safety concerns to the lead or supervisor immediately
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment, including end-of-shift cleanup; all materials must be organized and properly identified
• Report daily task completion via the daily work schedule
• Comply with all safety policies and work safely at all times
• Assist with any other tasks as requested by management

ACCOUNTABILITY

Upon completion of in-house training, the Machine Operator will be expected to:

• Accurately tally work totals and properly identify material types and sizes
• Accurately measure raw materials and finished goods within 1/32"

QUALIFICATIONS

• High School diploma or GED required; strong basic math skills
• Minimum one (1) year of experience in production, manufacturing, or construction
• Prior hands-on experience operating a waterjet cutting machine required
• Experience operating both manual and automatic die cutting machines required
• Experience operating lamination machines required
• Experience with thermoforming and heat press/heat compress equipment preferred
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with ever-changing deadlines
• Must be physically fit and able to stand for extended periods while working
• Must be reliable with reliable transportation
• Willing to work shifts and weekends if necessary
