The Parts Counter Person is responsible for providing exceptional customer service by assisting customers, technicians, and service staff with identifying, locating, and supplying the correct automotive parts. This role requires strong product knowledge, attention to detail, inventory management skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist retail, wholesale, and internal service customers with parts inquiries and purchases.
  • Identify and source the correct parts using electronic catalogs and manufacturer resources.
  • Process customer orders accurately and efficiently.
  • Maintain an organized, clean, and well-stocked parts department.
  • Receive, inspect, label, and stock incoming inventory.
  • Monitor inventory levels and communicate replenishment needs.
  • Process returns, warranties, and core returns according to established procedures.
  • Collaborate with service technicians to ensure timely availability of required parts.
  • Prepare invoices, collect payments, and maintain accurate transaction records.
  • Answer phone calls, emails, and customer inquiries in a professional and timely manner.
  • Assist with cycle counts and inventory audits.
  • Follow all safety procedures and maintain compliance with company policies.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous automotive parts experience preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of automotive components, systems, and terminology.
  • Experience using computerized parts catalogs and point-of-sale systems is a plus.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic computer proficiency.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures within warehouse and shop environments.
  • Manual dexterity to handle automotive parts and operate office equipment.
