Position Summary
The Yard Hand is responsible for providing excellent customer service while assisting with the daily operations of the lumber yard. This position involves loading and unloading materials, operating forklifts, maintaining a safe and organized yard, and assisting customers with their building material needs.

 

Requirements

• Valid driver's license required.
• Forklift experience preferred (training may be provided).
• Ability to lift and carry heavy materials safely.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Dependable, punctual, and safety-conscious.

Responsibilities

• Load customer vehicles with lumber, building materials, and other products safely and efficiently.
• Unload incoming trucks and organize inventory within the yard.
• Operate forklifts and other yard equipment in a safe manner.
• Assist customers by locating products and answering questions.
• Provide exceptional customer service to ensure a positive customer experience.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout the lumber yard.
• Inspect materials for damage and report inventory issues.
• Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
• Assist with inventory counts and stock replenishment as needed.
• Support other yard and warehouse operations as assigned.

Physical Requirements

• Frequently lift, carry, and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds or more.
• Stand, walk, bend, and perform physical labor for extended periods.
• Work in outdoor environments and varying weather conditions.
