What You'll Do

As an Industrial Electrician Apprentice, you will support the maintenance team in ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of production equipment.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on industrial electrical equipment and machinery.
• Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and PLC-controlled equipment to minimize production downtime.
• Perform electrical testing, including continuity, voltage, current, and resistance checks.
• Install, repair, maintain, and test industrial electrical equipment, including motors, transformers, generators, regulators, and electrical control systems.
• Assist with the design, assembly, and installation of electrical control panels and power distribution systems.
• Read and interpret electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical schematics.
• Support PLC troubleshooting and programming activities; experience with Siemens S5/S7 systems is considered an asset.
• Respond to equipment breakdowns and emergency maintenance situations.
• Complete preventative maintenance inspections and identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability.
• Accurately complete work orders, maintenance logs, and required documentation.
• Ensure all work complies with the Canadian Electrical Code, manufacturer specifications, and company maintenance standards.
• Follow all Health & Safety policies, including lockout/tagout procedures, hazard identification, and environmental practices.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

What We're Looking For

• Currently registered as a 309A or 442A Industrial Electrician Apprentice.
• Ideally in your 3rd or 4th year of apprenticeship with significant completed apprenticeship hours.
• Completion of in-class apprenticeship training to date.
• Registered with Skilled Trades Ontario.
• Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience maintaining industrial manufacturing equipment.
• Experience troubleshooting industrial electrical systems and automated equipment.
• Exposure to PLC-controlled machinery; Siemens S5/S7 experience is an asset.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical drawings.
• Comfortable working rotating day and night shifts (8-12 hour shifts).
• Experience using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) or maintenance software is considered an asset.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Commitment to workplace safety and continuous improvement.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
