Express Employment Professionals is conducting a confidential search for an experienced Payroll & Benefits Specialist on behalf of a well-established agricultural organization in Harriston, ON.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a collaborative team where you'll take ownership of payroll and benefits administration while supporting Human Resources initiatives. Key Responsibilities
Payroll & Benefits Administration
- Process accurate and timely weekly payroll for approximately 800 employees across multiple companies using ADP Payroll.
- Administer employee benefits and Group RRSP programs, including enrollments, changes, remittances, and terminations.
- Complete month-end benefit and WSIB reconciliations.
- Prepare year-end payroll activities, including T4s and other required tax documentation.
- Maintain payroll records to ensure compliance with internal policies, employment legislation, and external audit requirements.
- Respond to employee and management inquiries regarding payroll, benefits, and expense reporting.
- Process variable earnings, including piecework compensation.
Human Resources Support
- Partner with Human Resources to process new hires, terminations, wage increases, and vacation payouts.
- Assist with onboarding, offer letters, reporting, and other HR administration.
- Maintain accurate employee records while ensuring confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Provide day-to-day support to HR initiatives as required.
Process Improvement & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with Canadian payroll legislation and company policies.
- Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes and internal controls.
- Assist with developing and maintaining payroll Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Support payroll reporting and external audit requirements.
Qualifications
- 3-5 years of payroll experience in a high-volume environment.
- Experience processing complex payrolls that include piecework, incentive pay, bonuses, shift premiums, or other variable earnings is strongly preferred.
- Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation (National Payroll Institute) is required.
- Experience processing payroll using ADP Payroll.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation, employment standards, and payroll compliance.
- Experience administering employee benefits and Group RRSP programs.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Excellent organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality while handling sensitive employee information.
