Material Handler

Location: Lenexa, KS
Pay Rate: $19.00/hour
Shift: 1st Shift | Monday–Friday | 5:00 AM – 1:30 PM

Position Summary

Express Employment Professionals is seeking a dependable Material Handler for a leading manufacturing company in Lenexa, KS. Under the direction of the Materials Supervisor, this position is responsible for safely operating material handling equipment, transporting materials throughout the facility, supporting inventory accuracy, and loading and unloading shipments. The ideal candidate will have warehouse or manufacturing experience, strong attention to detail, and a commitment to workplace safety.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Operate material handling equipment safely and efficiently, including forklifts, pallet jacks, and cherry pickers.
• Transport materials between departments, storage locations, production areas, and shipping/receiving docks.
• Collect and deliver a variety of materials, including raw materials, components, supplies, and finished goods.
• Maintain inventory accuracy through stocking, unloading, order pulling, and processing activities.
• Reconcile shortages, scrap, and returns to ensure inventory transactions are completed accurately.
• Properly palletize and package materials and products for safe transport and shipment.
• Assist with cycle counting of raw materials and finished goods inventory.
• Adhere strictly to all safety procedures and company policies, including required PPE.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment to support operational efficiency and safety.
• Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, production personnel, and other departments regarding material needs and delivery priorities.
• Handle and dispose of materials, including hazardous materials, in accordance with company procedures.
• Support additional warehouse and material handling duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 6 months of manufacturing, warehouse, or material handling experience required; 1 year preferred.
• Previous experience operating forklifts or other material handling equipment is preferred.
• Basic math skills required.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to bend, stoop, and reach at ground level and above shoulder height.
• Must be able to stand and walk throughout the workday, up to 10 hours per shift.
• Must be able to wear required PPE, including safety glasses, safety shoes, hearing protection, gloves, and face shields.

Work Environment

• Fast-paced manufacturing and warehouse environment.
• Exposure to machinery, moderate noise levels, and varying temperatures.
• May be exposed to repetitive sounds from machinery and equipment.
• May work with chemicals in accordance with MSDS guidelines.
• May operate equipment and work in close proximity to moving machinery.
• Requires adherence to safety procedures and teamwork in a production-driven atmosphere.
