Position Overview

The Solderer is responsible for assembling, soldering, modifying, and inspecting electronic products in accordance with engineering drawings, work instructions, and IPC standards. This role supports production operations through high-quality workmanship, attention to detail, compliance with quality and safety requirements, and participation in continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Assemble electronic products according to drawings, specifications, and production documentation.
• Perform through-hole (TH) and surface mount (SMT) component preparation, installation, removal, rework, and touch-up using hand soldering techniques.
• Modify printed circuit boards (PCBs), including installing jumper wires, cutting traces, and performing other engineering-authorized modifications.
• Perform mechanical assembly using work orders, production drawings, sample assemblies, and verbal instructions.
• Read, understand, and navigate documentation within Fusion/Factory Logix.
• Prepare assemblies and assist with selective soldering operations.
• Operate in-line and batch washing equipment according to work instructions.
• Operate board heaters according to work instructions.
• Perform depaneling operations according to work instructions.
• Inspect personal work and, when required, the work of others to applicable IPC-A-610 standards.
• Use the Manufacturing Execution System (MES) to track labor time and job status.
• Obtain and maintain IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 certifications.
• Obtain IPC-7711 certification when required.
• Follow instructions, communicate effectively, and work collaboratively with team members.
• Maintain 6S workplace standards and identify opportunities for process improvement.
• Perform epoxy, RTV, and potting operations as required by documentation.
• Follow all Safety, ESD, ITAR, and Quality Management System (QMS) requirements.
• Participate in Lean manufacturing initiatives and support continuous improvement efforts.
• Adhere to all procedures, policies, and work instructions relevant to the position.

Minimum Qualifications

• Soldering experience.
• Manufacturing or production experience.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
• Basic computer skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• 1-2 years of soldering experience.
• IPC-A-610, J-STD-001, and IPC-7711 certifications.
• Two years of experience working in a production environment.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods as required by job duties.
• Visual acuity sufficient to perform detailed assembly and inspection work, including microscope use when necessary.
• Ability to pass a vision exam with a minimum visual acuity of 20/25 in at least one eye, with or without corrective lenses.
• Ability to pass a color vision test to accurately distinguish color-coded components and materials.
