Position Summary

The Court Clerk provides administrative and clerical support to the court by maintaining official court records, preparing legal documents, scheduling hearings, assisting judges and attorneys during court proceedings, and providing exceptional customer service to the public. This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, discretion, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, confidential environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare, process, file, and maintain court documents, records, and case files.
  • Schedule court hearings, trials, and other judicial proceedings.
  • Attend court sessions to administer oaths, record proceedings, and document judicial actions.
  • Enter and update case information accurately in electronic case management systems.
  • Collect court fees, fines, and payments; issue receipts and balance daily financial transactions.
  • Assist judges, attorneys, law enforcement officers, and court staff with case-related information.
  • Respond to inquiries from the public while maintaining confidentiality and complying with court policies.
  • Issue warrants, subpoenas, summonses, and other court documents as authorized.
  • Prepare and distribute court calendars, notices, and official correspondence.
  • Review documents for completeness and compliance with applicable laws, rules, and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records in accordance with records retention requirements.
  • Perform data entry, scanning, filing, and other administrative tasks.
  • Support courtroom operations and ensure proceedings are conducted efficiently.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred.
  • One to three years of clerical, administrative, legal, or customer service experience preferred.
  • Experience in a court, legal office, or government agency is desirable.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and electronic case management systems.
  • Ability to accurately type and enter data.
  • Ability to interpret and apply court rules, policies, and procedures.
