Express Employment Professionals is currently recruiting for our Jamestown, NY client. Our client is looking for Grinder Operators. The Grinder Operator is responsible for setting up and operating grinding machines to finish or shape metal and other materials. This role requires precision, attention to detail, and a strong understanding of machine operation and safety procedures.
Key Duties
- Grind, sand, and polish sheet metal components to remove weld spatter, burrs, sharp edges, and surface imperfections.
- Use hand grinders, belt sanders, deburring tools, and other finishing equipment safely and effectively.
- Inspect finished parts to ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, and quality requirements.
- Blend welds and surface transitions to achieve desired cosmetic appearance.
- Prepare metal surfaces for painting, powder coating, galvanizing, or other finishing processes.
- Identify and report defects, damage, or nonconforming materials to supervisors.
- Read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and shop drawings.
- Maintain proper dimensions and avoid excessive material removal during grinding operations.
- Perform routine maintenance and safety checks on grinding and finishing equipment.
- Follow all safety procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Keep work areas clean and organized in accordance with housekeeping standards.
- Assist welders, fabricators, and production personnel as needed to support workflow and meet production schedules.
- Handle and move materials using approved lifting and material-handling methods.
- Meet productivity goals while maintaining high-quality workmanship.
Hours are M-F 7 am to 330 pm. Pay is between $20-22/hr based on experience.
