Position Summary

The Traffic Flagger is responsible for assisting with temporary traffic control operations to ensure the safe movement of vehicles and pedestrians through work zones. This position involves setting up and removing traffic control devices and directing traffic using approved flagging methods.

Essential Job Duties

Set up traffic control cones in designated work zones according to supervisor direction and traffic control plans.
Set up and position traffic control signs to provide motorists with advance warning of work zone activities.
Direct and control traffic using a stop/slow paddle while maintaining a safe and efficient flow of vehicles through the work area.
Monitor traffic conditions and remain alert to potential hazards at all times.
Tear down and remove traffic control signs, cones, and other equipment at the conclusion of work activities.
Follow all company safety procedures and applicable traffic control regulations.
Communicate effectively with coworkers and supervisors regarding traffic and work zone conditions.

Qualifications

Ability to follow directions and work safely in a traffic environment.
Ability to stand for extended periods and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
Reliable attendance and punctuality.
Traffic Flagger Certification is required.

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand, walk, and work outdoors for extended periods.
Ability to lift, carry, and move traffic control equipment, including signs and cones.
Ability to maintain awareness of moving traffic and changing work zone conditions.

Working Conditions

Outdoor work environment.
Exposure to traffic, weather conditions, dust, and noise.
May require overtime, weekends, or varying work schedules based on project needs.
