The Machine Operator is responsible for safely operating, monitoring, and maintaining manufacturing equipment used in the production and packaging of dynamite and related explosive products. This position ensures products are manufactured according to quality standards, production schedules, and regulatory requirements while maintaining strict adherence to all safety procedures. The Machine Operator plays a critical role in maintaining efficient operations and supporting a safe work environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Operate production equipment and machinery used in the manufacturing, filling, packaging, and labeling of explosive products.
  • Monitor equipment performance and make routine adjustments to maintain product quality and production efficiency.
  • Conduct pre-operational inspections and verify equipment is functioning correctly before use.
  • Follow established manufacturing procedures, work instructions, and safety protocols.
  • Inspect products during production to ensure compliance with quality specifications.
  • Accurately complete production records, equipment logs, and batch documentation.
  • Assist with machine setup, changeovers, and production line adjustments.
  • Perform routine cleaning and preventive maintenance of equipment as assigned.
  • Identify and report equipment malfunctions, quality issues, and safety concerns.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Work closely with Quality Control, Maintenance, and Production teams to meet company objectives.
  • Follow all federal, state, local, and company regulations relating to explosive materials and hazardous substances.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Previous manufacturing, production, machine operation, or industrial experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and follow written work instructions and safety procedures.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
  • Ability to perform accurate documentation and recordkeeping.
  • Basic computer skills for data entry and production reporting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in chemical manufacturing, explosives production, mining, or related industrial environments.
  • Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification.
  • Experience operating automated manufacturing equipment.
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and quality control procedures.
  • Experience working with hazardous materials.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to frequently bend, stoop, reach, and climb.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in indoor and outdoor manufacturing environments.
  • Ability to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including hearing protection, safety glasses, gloves, and specialized protective clothing.

Safety Responsibilities

  • Strictly follow all explosive material handling procedures and company safety policies.
  • Participate in required safety training and emergency response programs.
  • Immediately report unsafe conditions, incidents, near misses, and equipment concerns.
