Electrical Engineer

Position Summary

The Electrical Engineer is responsible for managing all aspects of electrical design for projects across the organization and supporting the maintenance of existing equipment used in Foam Manufacturing, Foam Fabrication, and Carpet Underlay Manufacturing.

 

This role provides technical expertise in electrical and automation troubleshooting, develops solutions to improve existing processes, and designs, implements, and tests modifications to electrical equipment, components, and systems. The position requires strong knowledge of process automation, Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM), and electrical engineering principles.

Key Responsibilities

• Direct and coordinate electrical planning and project implementation while ensuring compliance with specifications, applicable codes, and work order requirements.
• Report work completed in accordance with relevant codes, standards, and procedures.
• Develop electrical calculations and designs for new projects, process improvements, and equipment repairs or modifications.
• Design and implement electrical modifications, including PLC programming and Wonderware changes.
• Prepare specifications for materials and equipment purchases and procure required materials.
• Coordinate with contractors to complete electrical projects and modifications.
• Develop and modify electrical drawings using AutoCAD and support PLC programming and Wonderware applications.
• Provide technical expertise in identifying, analyzing, and resolving electrical and automation issues.
• Support maintenance teams by troubleshooting electrical and automation problems and implementing permanent solutions to reduce downtime.
• Prepare technical reports, engineering documentation, calculations, and drawings.
• Perform electrical studies as assigned.
• Develop conceptual electrical designs and project specifications.
• Prepare project cost estimates and electrical/equipment layouts.
• Manage project implementation, including resource planning and scheduling.
• Make technical decisions throughout the project lifecycle.
• Maintain project resource records.
• Maintain current knowledge of electrical engineering practices, industry trends, and best practices.

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.

Experience

• Minimum three (3) years of related experience, preferably within Foam Manufacturing (pour line) and Foam Fabrication.
• Manufacturing industry experience is required.
• Experience with Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM), PLC programming and troubleshooting.
• Experience with Wonderware is an asset.
• Experience in process automation, preferably within a foam manufacturing or foam fabrication environment.
• Understanding of inventory management to support CIM solutions and improvements.

• Knowledge of Canadian electrical standards.
• Experience with fire alarm systems, lighting, and emergency power generation is considered an asset.

Working Conditions

• 100% on-site position based in GTA.
• Some travel may be required based on project requirements.
• Ability to attend and deliver presentations.
• Manual dexterity required to operate computers and related peripherals.

• May be exposed to manufacturing and construction environments.
• Weekend work may be required.

• Salary: Up to $105,000/year (based on experience)
