The Inside Sales Representative is responsible for generating sales revenue, managing customer accounts, building strong client relationships, and supporting business growth within the chemical industry. This role serves as the primary point of contact for customers, handling inquiries, preparing quotations, processing orders, and identifying opportunities to increase sales of chemical products and services. The ideal candidate possesses strong communication skills, a customer-focused mindset, and the ability to understand technical chemical products and applications.

 

Key Responsibilities

Sales & Business Development

  • Develop and maintain relationships with existing customers to maximize sales and customer retention.
  • Prospect and qualify new business opportunities through phone calls, email campaigns, and other outreach methods.
  • Meet or exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual sales goals.
  • Generate leads and convert opportunities into sales.
  • Coordinate with outside sales representatives to support territory growth and customer development.

Account Management

  • Manage customer accounts and maintain accurate records within the CRM system.
  • Provide product information, pricing, availability, and technical support as needed.
  • Prepare and follow up on quotations, proposals, and contracts.
  • Address customer concerns and resolve issues promptly to ensure customer satisfaction.

Order Processing & Customer Service

  • Enter and monitor customer orders from receipt through delivery.
  • Coordinate with operations, purchasing, logistics, and warehouse teams to ensure timely product fulfillment.
  • Track order status and communicate updates to customers.
  • Handle returns, credits, and customer complaints professionally.

Product Knowledge & Technical Support

  • Develop a strong understanding of the company's chemical products, applications, and markets.
  • Assist customers in selecting appropriate products based on their requirements.
  • Stay current on industry trends, competitive products, and regulatory requirements affecting customers.

Administrative Duties

  • Maintain accurate sales forecasts, pipelines, and activity reports.
  • Participate in sales meetings and training programs.
  • Assist with marketing campaigns, trade shows, and customer promotions as needed.

 

Qualifications

Education

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Marketing, or a related field preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and industry experience may be considered.

Experience

  • 2+ years of inside sales, customer service, account management, or business development experience preferred.
  • Experience in the chemical, industrial, manufacturing, or distribution industry is highly desirable.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to understand and discuss technical products.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and CRM systems.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
