Industrial Maintenance Manager (Automated Assembly)

Location: London, Ohio
Salary: $110,000 – $130,000 per year

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Industrial Maintenance Manager to lead maintenance operations within a highly automated manufacturing environment. This leadership role is responsible for maximizing equipment reliability, minimizing downtime, improving Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate combines strong leadership skills with technical expertise in industrial automation, robotics, PLCs, preventative maintenance, and manufacturing systems.

Key Responsibilities

Maintenance & Asset Reliability

  • Lead daily maintenance operations to maximize equipment uptime and production efficiency.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor preventative and predictive maintenance programs.
  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs), including Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF), and Mean Time to Repair (MTTR).
  • Analyze equipment failures and lead root cause investigations to eliminate recurring issues.
  • Ensure maintenance work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company standards.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Supervise, mentor, and develop maintenance technicians and support personnel.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities across multiple shifts to maintain consistent equipment performance.
  • Provide technical guidance during equipment breakdowns and emergency situations.
  • Develop training programs to improve employee skills in automation, robotics, PLCs, and industrial maintenance technologies.
  • Foster a culture focused on safety, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

Continuous Improvement

  • Lead Lean Manufacturing, TPM (Total Productive Maintenance), 5S, Kaizen, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Develop action plans to improve machine reliability and reduce downtime.
  • Partner with Quality, Production, and Engineering teams to reduce defects, scrap, and process variation.
  • Support installation, startup, and commissioning of new automated production equipment and manufacturing systems.
  • Evaluate equipment performance and recommend process improvements.

Budget & Inventory Management

  • Manage maintenance budgets, including labor, contractors, and maintenance supplies.
  • Maintain inventory of critical spare parts and maintenance materials.
  • Utilize CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) software to schedule maintenance activities and analyze equipment performance.
  • Ensure maintenance documentation is complete and accurate.

Safety & Compliance

  • Promote a safe work environment by ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and company safety policies.
  • Conduct safety meetings, equipment inspections, and risk assessments.
  • Ensure maintenance activities comply with all environmental, quality, and manufacturing standards.
  • Participate in audits and corrective action activities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent combination of education and industrial maintenance experience.
  • Five or more years of maintenance leadership experience in a highly automated manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with PLC-controlled equipment, industrial robotics, automated conveyor systems, and vision inspection systems.
  • Strong knowledge of preventative maintenance, predictive maintenance, and reliability-centered maintenance.
  • Experience using CMMS software for maintenance planning and asset management.
  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, TPM, Kaizen, 5S, FMEA, and Root Cause Analysis.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to make sound decisions under pressure while managing multiple priorities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in automotive, electronics, or high-volume manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of Allen-Bradley, Mitsubishi, Siemens, or similar PLC platforms.
  • Experience with industrial robots such as FANUC, ABB, KUKA, EPSON, or Mitsubishi.
  • Familiarity with predictive maintenance technologies and equipment reliability programs.
  • OSHA and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) training or certification.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and reach throughout the workday.
  • Comfortable working around automated production equipment, robotics, conveyors, and industrial machinery.
  • Ability to work overtime and respond to equipment emergencies as needed.

  • Manufacturing facility located in London, Ohio.
  • Combination of office and production floor responsibilities.
  • Fast-paced, highly automated manufacturing environment.
  • Exposure to moving machinery, electrical systems, industrial equipment, and manufacturing chemicals.
  • Occasional domestic and international travel may be required for training, equipment installation, vendor support, or manufacturing collaboration.
