EB Welder

Location: Berlin, CT

Pay rate: $52,000-65,000

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 3:30 pm to 11 pm

Responsibilities and Duties-

  • Set up, operate, and monitor electron beam welding equipment to produce precision welds on a variety of metals and alloys.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, work instructions, and welding specifications.
  • Prepare materials for welding by cleaning, aligning, fixturing, and securing components.
  • Select and adjust welding parameters, including beam current, focus, voltage, travel speed, and vacuum settings, according to process requirements.
  • Verify vacuum chamber integrity and ensure proper machine operation before initiating weld cycles.
  • Perform test welds and make process adjustments to achieve required weld quality and dimensional tolerances.
  • Inspect completed welds using visual inspection techniques and precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
  • Assist with or perform non-destructive testing (NDT) preparation and support quality inspections as required.
  • Document production data, inspection results, machine settings, and completed work accurately.
  • Troubleshoot welding defects, equipment issues, and process inconsistencies to minimize downtime and scrap.
  • Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and preventive maintenance on electron beam welding equipment.
  • Maintain compliance with company quality standards, customer specifications, and applicable industry standards.
  • Follow all workplace safety procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe operation of high-voltage and vacuum systems.
  • Work collaboratively with engineers, quality personnel, machinists, and production staff to resolve manufacturing issues and improve processes.
  • Maintain an organized and clean work area using established housekeeping and lean manufacturing practices.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety, quality, productivity, and efficiency.
  • Train or assist less experienced operators as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications-

  • Must satisfy ITAR compliance requirements and must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident Card Holder
  • Education - High school diploma or equivalent
  • One year of GTAW or TIG welding experience and some aerospace industry experience desired but not required
  • May be required to work overtime or any shift, including weekends
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain forklift operation certification
  • Must be able to read, write, and communicate in the English language
  • Knowledge and hands on experience of computer applications such as Microsoft Office
