SMT Technician (2nd & 3rd Shift)

Location: London, Ohio
Pay: $30.28 per hour

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented SMT Technician to support production in a fast-paced electronics manufacturing environment. This position is responsible for operating and maintaining Surface Mount Technology (SMT) equipment, performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting machine issues, and ensuring production goals and quality standards are consistently achieved. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently while supporting a team-focused manufacturing operation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate SMT production equipment safely and efficiently while meeting production schedules.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on production equipment to minimize downtime.
  • Troubleshoot machine and production issues during operation and implement corrective actions.
  • Conduct equipment setup, machine changeovers, and production line adjustments.
  • Monitor machine performance and maintain consistent production output.
  • Inspect products throughout the manufacturing process to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Communicate equipment downtime, quality concerns, and production issues to supervisors.
  • Maintain accurate production records and documentation.
  • Utilize inventory management systems to support material tracking and production needs.
  • Follow standard operating procedures and established safety guidelines.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas using 5S principles.
  • Work collaboratively with production, maintenance, engineering, and quality teams to improve efficiency.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to increase productivity and reduce downtime.
  • Assist with training new employees on equipment operation and safety procedures.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Experience performing preventative maintenance on manufacturing equipment.
  • Mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot production machinery.
  • Experience using basic hand tools and performing machine changeovers.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality.
  • Ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience with inventory management systems is a plus.
  • Electronics manufacturing experience preferred but not required.
  • IPC-A-610 certification preferred but not required.
  • Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) certification preferred but not required.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and walk for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working around moving machinery and mechanical equipment.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces when performing equipment maintenance.
  • Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and additional hours as needed to support production.
