Pyrometry Technician 

Location: Berlin, CT

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7 am to 3:30 pm

Pay rate: $52,000-73,000

Responsibilities and Duties-

  • Schedules, coordinates, and designs surveys and system accuracy checks to meet specification requirements.
  • Prepares furnaces for surveys.
  • Builds and designs test racks, makes thermocouples, and maintains equipment to meet Quality Manual and specification requirements.
  • Performs temperature uniformity surveys, instrument calibration, and system accuracy checks as directed.
  • Completes and reviews pyrometry documentation.
  • Responsible for inventory of supplies relating to surveys and accuracy checks.
  • Responsible for instrumentation used for pyrometry including certification and calibration of the required instrumentation.
  • Reads and understands the BQS, AMS 2750, customer pyrometry specifications and related procedures.
  • Brings any irregularities, discrepancies or concerns to supervisor immediately.
  • Practices and promotes safety and good housekeeping.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned or dictated by position.
  • This position is responsible for the care and treatment of our customer’s inventory and as such will perform duties in a safe and responsible manner to prevent customer loss or damage.
  • Must have the ability to report for work on time, follow directions, interact effectively with co-workers, understand and follow rules and procedures and accept constructive criticism.

Qualifications-

  • This position must satisfy ITAR compliance requirements, therefore candidates must be U.S. Citizens or Permanent Resident Card Holder.
  • Education – High school diploma or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum three years’ experience in thermal processing
  • Experience with the BQS, AMS 2750, and customer pyrometry specifications is required.
  • Minimum of 20 classroom training hours and 240 on-the-job training hours specific to pyrometry. On-the-job experience may be used in lieu of training under certain conditions. A written test is required to demonstrate proficiency.
  • Must have knowledge by experience or training of basic math.
  • Must be precise and detail oriented.
  • May be required to work overtime or any shift, including weekends
  • Must be willing to travel to various plants within the region assigned.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to read, write and communicate the English language.
  • Knowledge and hands on experience of computer applications including Microsoft Office and databases is required.
