Welder Set-Up Mechanic

Location: Wilkes-Barre Area, PA
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM
Pay Rate: $18.00-$20.00 per hour

Position Summary

A growing manufacturing company is seeking a dependable and skilled Welder Set-Up Mechanic to perform machine setup, equipment maintenance, welding operations, troubleshooting, and fabrication work in a fast-paced production environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical aptitude, machining experience, welding knowledge, and the ability to work closely with production and maintenance teams to support safe and efficient operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Set up, adjust, troubleshoot, and repair production machinery and equipment.
• Perform welding and fabrication work to maintain and repair equipment, tooling, and production components.
• Operate and maintain automatic welders, hand welders, presses, shuttles, and related production equipment.
• Utilize milling machines, horizontal grinders, lathes, pedestal grinders, and other machine shop equipment.
• Assist with CNC programming and machine setup activities as required.
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
• Inspect parts and completed work using measuring instruments and gauges to ensure compliance with specifications.
• Diagnose mechanical issues and implement effective repair solutions to minimize downtime.
• Follow all department procedures, quality standards, and production requirements.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation related to repairs, setups, and maintenance activities.
• Keep work areas clean, organized, and safe.
• Collaborate effectively with team members and other departments to support production goals.
• Follow all company safety policies and properly utilize required safety equipment and PPE.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in machine setup, welding, fabrication, maintenance, or a related manufacturing role preferred.
• Knowledge of machinery setup, maintenance, and repairs.
• Understanding of CNC programming and machine operations.
• Strong fabrication and welding skills.
• Knowledge of machine shop processes and equipment.
• Ability to read and properly use various measuring devices, including calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
• Strong math skills and mechanical aptitude.
• Knowledge of safety equipment, safe work practices, and manufacturing safety procedures.
• Basic to intermediate computer skills.
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to effectively interact with employees across multiple departments.
• Ability to follow department procedures and work instructions.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, twist, and perform repetitive movements throughout the shift.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery, noise, and varying temperatures.
• Manual dexterity required for operating machinery, tools, and welding equipment.

Job Type: Full-Time
Shift: Day Shift (7:00 AM - 3:30 PM, Monday-Friday)
