Progressive Die Maintenance & Machinist

Schedule: 7am-3:30pm Mon-Fri
Location: Wilkes Barre, PA
Pay Rate: $18-20/hr

Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled Progressive Die Maintenance & Machinist to support the maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, and fabrication of progressive dies and tooling used in a manufacturing environment. This role requires strong machining abilities, blueprint reading skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and quality. The ideal candidate will be capable of independently operating machining equipment while working collaboratively with production and engineering teams to ensure optimal tooling performance and minimal downtime.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and modification of progressive dies and tooling.
  • Operate milling machines, grinders, saws, and related machining equipment to manufacture and repair tooling components.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to produce accurate and quality work.
  • Utilize precision measuring instruments to inspect components and verify tolerances.
  • Diagnose tooling issues and implement effective corrective actions to maintain production efficiency.
  • Maintain organized work areas and accurately document maintenance activities and tooling repairs.
  • Follow all department procedures, quality standards, and company policies.
  • Work closely with production personnel, supervisors, and engineering staff to resolve tooling and equipment concerns.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety requirements and properly use personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Assist with continuous improvement initiatives related to tooling performance, quality, and efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Experience in progressive die maintenance, tool and die repair, machining, or a related manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and repair tooling components.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Knowledge of milling and grinding processes.
  • Strong mathematical skills and proficiency using precision measuring devices such as calipers, micrometers, indicators, and gauges.
  • Ability to operate milling machines, grinders, and saws safely and effectively.
  • Knowledge of safety equipment, safe work practices, and manufacturing safety procedures.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Ability to follow department procedures and work instructions.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift throughout the workday.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed.
  • Frequent use of hands for operating machinery, tools, and measuring devices.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, moving equipment, and varying temperatures.
