Express Employment Professionals in Long Beach is currently seeking an experienced Billing Accountant for one of our valued clients in Long Beach. The ideal candidate will have 3–5 years of accounting or billing experience, with a strong background in the trucking, drayage, freight forwarding, or transportation industry. This individual will be responsible for accurate and timely customer invoicing, auditing transportation charges, and ensuring billing accuracy while working closely with operations, dispatch, and customer service.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and process customer invoices accurately and on schedule.
• Review bills of lading, proof of delivery, rate confirmations, carrier invoices, and supporting documentation.
• Verify freight charges, accessorial fees, detention, demurrage, chassis charges, fuel surcharges, and other transportation-related costs.
• Reconcile billing discrepancies and resolve customer invoice issues promptly.
• Coordinate with dispatch, operations, freight forwarding, and accounting teams to ensure billing accuracy.
• Maintain customer billing records and documentation.
• Process customer credits, adjustments, and rebills when necessary.
• Assist with accounts receivable by monitoring outstanding invoices and supporting collections efforts.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and customer billing requirements.
• Prepare billing reports and assist with month-end closing activities.
• Maintain confidentiality of financial and customer information.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of accounting, billing, or accounts receivable experience required.
• Experience in trucking, drayage, freight forwarding, logistics, or transportation is required.
• Strong understanding of transportation billing practices and freight documentation.
• Experience with transportation management systems (TMS) and accounting software is preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of import/export documentation.
• Experience billing ocean, rail, drayage, and over-the-road shipments.
• Familiarity with QuickBooks, McLeod, Tai, Profit Tools, or other transportation/accounting software.

Salary: $20 - $25 per hour
