Position Summary:

The Credentialing Specialist plays a vital role in supporting the operational and compliance needs of the anesthesia department. This position is responsible for assisting the Anesthesia Services Director in managing provider schedules and ensuring accurate, timely credentialing of anesthesia providers. The coordinator helps maintain hospital privileges, supports payer compliance, and ensures uninterrupted clinical and billing operations.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Workforce Coordination:

• Assist the Anesthesia Services Director in developing and maintaining provider schedules.
• Coordinate shift coverage, time-off requests, and schedule changes.
• Communicate scheduling updates to providers and relevant departments.

Credentialing:

• Complete initial and recredentialing applications for anesthesia providers with hospitals, payers, and other organizations.
• Maintain and update credentialing files, CAQH profiles, and licensure records.
• Track and renew provider certifications, DEA registrations, malpractice insurance, and other required documents.
• Ensure timely submission of credentialing documentation to avoid gaps in participation or payment delays.
• Liaise with hospitals, insurance carriers, and provider networks to resolve credentialing issues.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred.
• 2+ years of experience in medical credentialing or provider scheduling, preferably in anesthesia or a surgical specialty.
• Strong understanding of credentialing processes and payer requirements.
• Proficiency with credentialing databases and scheduling tools.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Preferred Certifications:

• Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS)
• Certified Medical Staff Services Professional (CPMSM)
