Service Technician

Located in Grand Rapids, MI

Salary: $20.00/HR

Service Technician Job Summary:

A local battery distributor is seeking a Service Technician to assist their team.  The role requires flexibility, a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to adapt quickly in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

 

Service Technician Responsibilities:

• Work on-site at the shop
• Work in the field at customer locations
• Learn how to do basic repairs on utility or industrial vehicles
• have a solid working knowledge of AC and DC power
• Be competent using a voltmeter
• Test batteries and record results
• Check acid adjustments on battery cells
• Install battery monitoring devices
• Be comfortable with drills, saws and other industrial hand tools
• Be comfortable working around heavy machinery (forklifts and industrial vehicles).
• Be confident in their abilities to handle field repairs, sometimes having limited space or resources based upon the customer’s location
• Understand functioning and testing of electrical components (diodes, resistors, contactors, batteries and electric motors)
• Be comfortable using an overhead hoist

 Schedule and Pay:

• 1st shift: 7:00am- 3:30pm (Monday-Friday)
• $20.00/ HR

Service Technician Qualifications:

• Have a valid Michigan Driver’s License- Driver’s License shall be in good standing, not revoked and have no limitations, with minimal to no points during the entire course of employment
• Willing to obtain a chauffeur's license
• Perform basic math skills and solve simple equations
• Lift truck & Warehouse experience helpful
• Be comfortable using a computer (experience with spreadsheets a plus)
