Position Overview

The Chemical Process Operator performs aerospace anodizing and chemical processing operations on aerospace components to provide corrosion protection, surface treatment, and preparation for paint or bonding applications. This role operates and monitors Chromic Acid Anodizing (CAA) and Boric Sulfuric Acid Anodizing (BSAA) production lines while ensuring compliance with AS9100, NADCAP, MIL-A-8625, and AMS specifications.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Perform aerospace anodizing processes, including CAA and BSAA.
  • Load, unload, rack, and fixture parts for processing.
  • Prepare parts through cleaning, etching, deoxidizing, and rinsing operations.
  • Monitor process parameters including voltage, current density, immersion time, solution temperature, and chemical concentrations.
  • Operate anodizing equipment including rectifiers, hoists, tanks, filtration systems, and rinsing stations.
  • Work with laboratory and quality personnel to maintain process control and chemical balance.
  • Ensure compliance with engineering drawings, process specifications, quality standards, and traceability requirements.
  • Perform routine equipment cleaning and report maintenance concerns.
  • Follow all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and environmental regulations related to chemical processing operations.

Qualifications

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Technical training in chemical processing, metal finishing, or manufacturing preferred.

Experience

  • 2–4 years of experience in anodizing, metal finishing, or chemical processing preferred.
  • Experience with chromic acid anodizing, boric-sulfuric anodizing, or aerospace finishing processes is highly desirable.

Skills

  • Knowledge of aerospace anodizing processes (CAA and BSAA).
  • Familiarity with chemical processing equipment and industrial chemical handling.
  • Ability to read and follow technical work instructions and aerospace specifications.
  • Strong attention to detail, safety, and quality compliance.
  • Ability to work effectively in a manufacturing environment.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

Work is performed in a chemical processing and manufacturing environment with exposure to chemical fumes, industrial equipment, noise, and varying temperatures. Frequent standing, walking, lifting, pushing, and pulling of objects up to 85+ pounds is required. Employees must be able to wear required PPE and pass respirator fit testing. Overtime, shift work, and weekend work may be required based on business needs.
