Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Production Control Specialist / Production Planner to coordinate, plan, and control production activities within our welding and fabrication manufacturing operation. This role is responsible for managing production schedules, work orders, material planning, inventory control, and workflow coordination to ensure the efficient, on-time delivery of high-quality fabricated products that meet customer specifications and safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Production Planning & Scheduling

  • Create and maintain production schedules and work orders.
  • Program and nest materials for CNC production equipment.
  • Coordinate labor, materials, and resources to support production demands.
  • Monitor inventory levels and purchasing requirements.

Material & Inventory Control

  • Manage raw material inventory, including beam, plate, and bar stock.
  • Coordinate with purchasing to ensure timely material availability.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records for raw materials and finished goods.

Workflow Management

  • Monitor production progress and adjust schedules as needed.
  • Identify bottlenecks and support efficient workflow through fabrication processes.
  • Coordinate with production, engineering, purchasing, and management teams to meet delivery goals.

Data, Quality & Safety

  • Utilize ERP/MRP systems to track production, inventory, and performance.
  • Maintain production records and generate reports on efficiency and output.
  • Enforce quality standards, PPE requirements, and workplace safety procedures.

Qualifications & Skills

Experience

  • Proven experience in Production Planning, Production Scheduling, Manufacturing Planning, or Production Control.
  • Experience in a metal fabrication, structural steel, or welding environment preferred.
  • ProNest and Tekla PowerFab experience preferred.
  • CNC programming and nesting experience required.

Technical Skills

  • Knowledge of nesting software, DXF and NC1 files.
  • Ability to read blueprints and fabrication drawings.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems and inventory management.

Soft Skills

  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Relevant certifications are a plus.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work throughout an active fabrication shop environment.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment and computer systems.
