Express Employment Professionals of Walla Walla is recruiting Construction General Laborers to assist with a large project in the Wallula Junction area. This is a long-term temporary position.
The Construction General Laborer performs a variety of manual labor tasks in support of commercial construction projects. This position assists with site preparation, material handling, concrete work, demolition, cleanup, and other general construction duties as directed by the Foreman or Superintendent. Employees may be assigned to work at ground level or in elevated work areas, and must safely perform assigned duties while complying with company safety policies and applicable OSHA and Washington State safety regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Clean and prepare construction sites by removing debris, trash, and other hazards.
- Load, unload, carry, and organize building materials, tools, and supplies.
- Assist skilled tradesmen with various construction activities, such as attaching liner panel, gypsum board, etc.
- Use power hand tools, including drills, saws, grinders, and other construction-related tools, when properly trained.
- Assist with setting forms, placing, pouring, leveling, and finishing concrete.
- Dig trenches, footings, and excavations using hand tools.
- Assist with demolition activities, including breaking and removing concrete, forms, and other structures.
- Perform general cleanup throughout all phases of construction.
- Work safely in elevated areas, including rooftops, ladders, scaffolding, and aerial work platforms, when assigned and while using required fall protection equipment.
- Follow all directions provided by the Foreman or Superintendent.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
- Attend required safety meetings, orientations, and training.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Training
- Company Safety Orientation (approximately 2 hours)
- Company PowerPoint Safety Training
- Site-specific orientation, when required
- Any additional safety training required for assigned job duties
Qualifications
- Previous construction experience preferred but not required.
- Ability to safely use basic hand and power tools.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Comfortable working at heights when assigned.
- Strong work ethic, dependability, and willingness to learn.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to safely perform team lifts when handling materials weighing more than 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, climb, and perform repetitive physical tasks throughout the workday.
- Ability to climb ladders and work in elevated areas.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to wear all required PPE, including fall protection equipment when required.

Working Conditions
Construction General Laborers work on active commercial construction sites and may be exposed to varying weather conditions, dust, noise, uneven terrain, and moving construction activities. Work may be performed both indoors and outdoors and may require working at elevated heights. Employees are expected to comply with all company safety policies and procedures and use required personal protective equipment at all times.
