Our client in Cedar Rapids, IA is looking for a 1st Shift Spot Welder!

Position Summary: This hands-on manufacturing position is responsible for joining sheet-metal parts and components used in commercial cooking equipment. The Spot Welder will operate resistance and projection welding equipment, load parts into fixtures, complete weld cycles, and inspect finished pieces to ensure each weld meets quality and print specifications. Unlike traditional MIG or TIG welding, this position primarily uses automated spot-welding machines. The operator positions the parts, activates the machine, monitors the weld cycle, and adjusts or maintains the welding tips as needed. This is a great opportunity for someone with welding, metal fabrication, machine operation, or manufacturing experience who takes pride in producing accurate, high-quality work.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate resistance and projection spot-welding machines
• Review work orders, process instructions, and production prints
• Select the correct parts and materials for each job
• Load and position sheet-metal components into welding fixtures
• Align parts correctly before beginning the weld cycle
• Activate the machine and monitor the welding process
• Remove finished parts and inspect welds for strength, placement, and appearance
• Dress, change, space, and adjust welding tips as needed
• Make basic machine adjustments according to established procedures
• Use gauges, fixtures, and measuring tools to verify accuracy
• Identify poor welds, damaged materials, or equipment concerns
• Separate and report products that do not meet quality standards
• Track completed parts and accurately document production information
• Maintain a steady production pace without sacrificing quality
• Follow all safety procedures and wear required protective equipment
• Keep the workstation clean, organized, and free of hazards
• Assist in other fabrication or production areas as needed

• A fast-paced manufacturing and metal-fabrication environment
• Frequent handling and positioning of metal parts
• Standing for most of the shift
• Repetitive use of hands and arms
• Regular bending, reaching, lifting, and moving materials
• Working around welding equipment, machinery, noise, and production activity
• A strong focus on safety, quality, accuracy, attendance, and productivity

Qualifications:

• Previous spot-welding, fabrication, machine-operation, or manufacturing experience is preferred
• Welding education or formal training through a technical school is desired
• Ability to read and follow process instructions, work orders, and print specifications
• Basic mechanical ability and comfort operating manufacturing equipment
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to weld quality
• Ability to identify defects and follow quality-control procedures
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
• Ability to work independently and as part of a production team
• Willingness to learn equipment setup, welding-tip maintenance, and quality requirements
• Reliable attendance and ability to maintain a consistent work pace
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Commitment to following all workplace safety procedures

Hours:

• Monday – Thursday
• 6 AM – 4:30 PM
• Optional overtime may be available on Friday’s

Pay:

• $19.88/hour
