Forklift Operator - Materials Control Technician - $21.00 - $23.00 (DOE)

Express Employment Professionals of Mount Vernon is currently recruiting a Forklift Operator on behalf of a leading seafood processing company specializing in the production of surimi seafood products. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established food manufacturing facility that values safety, teamwork, and quality.

What you get to do:

• Receive finished products from production, count and verify inventory, and sign for materials before placing them into inventory and cold storage
• Lift and move products weighing up to 55 lbs. and stack materials on pallets up to approximately 36 inches high
• Safely operate forklifts and pallet jacks while working in close, crowded areas and on varying surface conditions
• Identify and distinguish materials by size, color, and product descriptions
• Issue materials and supplies based on requisition forms
• Maintain inventory accounting and reporting records, including daily stock cards and inventory tracking
• Monitor inventory levels, anticipate shortages, and take appropriate corrective action
• Generate and maintain daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports to support accounting, purchasing, inventory control, and production scheduling
• Conduct month-end physical inventory counts and maintain organized report files for reference
• Work in cold storage environments at temperatures of -18°C (0°F) for periods of up to 20 minutes at a time
• Adapt to frequent temperature changes between freezer, indoor production, and outdoor conditions
• Operate an electric pallet jack, requiring frequent wrist and finger movement, walking forward and backward, and continuous awareness of surroundings and stopping distances
• Operate forklifts following completion of state-certified safety training
• Utilize hand and foot controls simultaneously while maintaining awareness of load capacities, travel speeds, obstacles, terrain conditions, and workplace hazards
• Perform cold storage maintenance by removing ice and debris using a 30 lb. ice scraper and broom inside freezer environments
• Complete freezer cleaning duties approximately three times per week
• Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including insulated freezer suits, insulated boots, gloves, safety glasses, goggles, face shields, and other safety gear as needed
• Maintain reliable attendance and contribute to team efforts to support efficient warehouse and production operations
• Comply with sanitation requirements, including keeping hair secured above the collar and maintaining a clean-shaven face when required
• Support stormwater management and waste disposal programs
• Sort production waste into organic and non-organic categories
• Maintain accurate and legible documentation for the Materials Control (M/C) Department
• Keep warehouse areas, loading docks, and workspaces clean, organized, and safe at all times

What you need to be successful:

• Prior experience in shipping/receiving or food processing industry
• Ability to efficiently use all material handling equipment
• Current Forklift Certification preferred or the ability to obtain one

Schedule: Monday through Friday from 7:30AM to 4:30PM

Pay: $21.00 - $23.00 (DOE)
