Job Summary

We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Scrap Metal Associate to join our team. This position works primarily outdoors and is responsible for loading, unloading, sorting, and processing various types of scrap metal materials. The ideal candidate will be safety-conscious, physically fit, and capable of working in varying weather conditions while maintaining a productive and efficient work environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Load and unload scrap metal materials.
• Sort and separate metals according to company procedures
• Inspect incoming materials
• Assist with weighing, grading, and organizing scrap metal inventory.
• Maintain clean and organized work areas.
• Follow all safety policies, procedures, and environmental regulations.
• Assist customers with unloading materials and provide professional customer service.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding yard operations.
• Perform general labor duties as assigned, including housekeeping and site maintenance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Previous experience in a scrap yard, recycling facility, warehouse, construction, or general labor environment is preferred but not required.
• Basic knowledge of metals and recycling processes is a plus.
• Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds regularly and more with assistance or equipment.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, climb, and work on feet for extended periods.
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and dust.
• Comfortable working around heavy equipment, machinery, and industrial materials.

Work Environment

• Outdoor scrap metal recycling facility or metal processing yard.
• Exposure to varying weather conditions, noise, dust, and moving equipment.
• Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, gloves, steel-toe boots, hard hats, and hearing protection as needed.

Preferred Skills

• Knowledge of scrap metal identification and classification.
• Strong work ethic and dependability.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Position Type: Full-Time -- Overtime may be available based on need and performance
